The one and only Dawn Brolin joined us on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 to tell us about her firm Tech Stack! As ALWAYS we had a blast with Dawn! Dawn not only has Team Brolin but also Powerful Accounting.
A little bit about Powerful Accounting
Dawn told us about how she decided to start coaching softball and needed her firm to run without her there so she could do that! Dawn has a team of 3 people, and 229 clients, but wants to downsize! A year ago she started implementing relationship pricing and wants to get down to 50 clients on that pricing. She also pulled in a tax partner! Now she has a great tech stack to help her maintain this new process.
Internal tech stack overview
Dawn told us about her internal stack! She is using NiceJob for reviews (great for getting reviews and growing your business), Liscio for client communication (thank goodness because her email went down!), Smartvault for storage, Swizznet for password storage, Financial Cents for practice management, Karbon for client information, Slack for internal communication, WordPress for website management, and Microsoft for their software. They are using Ignition for proposals. The flexibility of giving clients the choice of what they want to have done has been so helpful for her, especially with her new pricing program. She has everything set up in there as templates and can easily send the appropriate ones to her clients! The client then chooses what they want and submits payment!
External tech stack overview
She also gave us some insight into her external stack! They are using Lacerte as their tax software, creating those returns! She said that everything she is using is all in the Swizznet cloud. They are also using CorpayOne for accounts payable, getting rid of checks. As well as Dext for receipt tracking, Bookkeep is “set it and forget it” for bookkeeping for her client’s transactional data. Utilizing the tools to get the most accurate data in live time is so important! We talked about Dext and how they are integrating, auto-publishing data, and how they can choose what bills get tracked, etc. She showed us an example of a receipt that came in and how they coded it and then off it went! One of the nice things about Dext is that they don’t keep the information, it gets pushed right to QuickBooks!
In this episode, we covered other apps as well and how they utilize them. Be sure to watch this episode so you can learn how this tech stack works!
